Fall Sales

The nursery in Richmond Beach will be open on:

Mondays and Wednesdays  by appointment

To visit and buy plants at a time that is earlier or later, please call Don at (206) 799-1749 to make an appointment.

If you can send a list of what you would like to Don at gonatives@gmail.com we can have plants ready for you.

Call if you would like to come at another time or have an idea for a sale. There are LOTS of plants at my place, bare-root salmonberry, thimbleberry, snowberry, ninebark, dogwoods, all ready to replace the lawn and weeds along the fence with a bird friendly patch! With some large cedars and serviceberries at just about wholesale prices, you can buy a bunch for a little! We are also looking for pots! Especially 2 gallon and 4″ pots.

Andrea has posted some great photos of some of the plants now available.

Abroad

As part of his interest in native plants on the Gulf of Mexico, Don is now collecting seed and investigating the growing of several dune plants along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Sesuvium portulacastrum (1st picture) appears to be an excellent colonizer of beach overwashes. Croton punctatus (Picture 2) is an excellent dune stabilizer (Picture 3). Several other species including a pea and 2 species of morning glories (Picture 4 shows an Ipomeaea, probably imperati) are excellent for their foresand holding capacity. These dunes plants protect habitat for Wilson’s Plover (Picture 5)
